Durnbach War Cemetery

March 2014, saw a pilgrimage of 30 relatives of the crew. Representing Sgt R Hoole, Sgt TC McEneaney and Sgt J G Wise. During this visit to Durnbach, a memorial was placed at the crash site, in the village of Bolstern, South West Germany.
The crew of Lancaster ND 474 have been laid to rest at Durnbach War Cemetery. All seven crew members lay side by side.
Located in the small village of Durnbach, some 45Kms south of Munich.
Durnbach contains 2,934 Commonwealth graves from the Second World War. 93 are unidentified.
The great majority of those buried at Dunbach are airmen shot down over Bavaria, Württemberg, Austria, Hessen and Thuringia. Others buried here are service men who were killed while escaping from prisoner of war camps in the region.
The McEneaney family, relatives to Sgt T C MCENEANEY first visited Dunbach War Cemetery in 1984. Pat visited his older brother’s grave, along with his son, Terry. This was the first of many visits.
The next visit came in 2004, where Pat’s wife, Phyllis, visited Dunbach, alongside, her sons, Terry, Robert and Paul. Phyllis’s nephew John and his wife Ann made up the visiting party. Terry was making his second visit to Dunbach, unfortunately Pat had passed 10 years before.
